I’m Nick, and I’ve long identified as a writer.
I write for a living, as a marketing professional, but that’s often not as intellectually stimulating as I’d prefer.
IDK anything is my personal, yet altogether rather public, piece of Internet real estate. It fills for me a creative void, and I hope it will fill for you a void you had no idea existed in your life. A void into which I will attempt to funnel my ideas about the world for you to explore. Thanks for being here.
About the name
For all you who don’t have a firm grasp on hip, modern lingo, the acronym “IDK” stands for “I don’t know.”
IDK anything alludes not to the idea that I literally know nothing, but rather to the notion that I’m a young adult with a malleable mind, flailing wildly in the dark as I piece together an ideology and a set of values that I think suit me and exemplify strong ethics and a sense of morality.
I want to write about human minds and relationships, political ideas and current events, philosophy and questions raised by science.
However, I’m not an expert – merely an intellectual interested in interpreting the ideas of those I meet or encounter in the media.
So I hope you won’t take me too seriously, and rather acknowledge me for who I am – someone seeking only to learn and debate, not a threatening ideologue.
History of the blog
In late 2016, I was having a sort of existential crisis because, despite my self-identification, I was never actually writing anything.
So IDK anything started as a personal project, its aim being to get me writing daily. Not about anything in particular, just whatever captured my attention at the time.
I set sights on a full year of daily posts – a goal which, after about a month, promptly devolved into “whenever I could find the time” and finally into “long-term hiatus.”
The following summer, I picked it back up, with a new focus on more thoughtful, weekly pieces rather than daily ones. That’s where we are now.
If you enjoy my writing or want to respond, please comment, share, or just leave a little like! I get back to just about everyone, and I enjoy the ensuing conversations.
